This event was inspired by a matchbox in January, 2011. The vision was to achieve big goals – an international art therapy partnership – with few resources. The theme was expanded when we began distributing small muslin bags containing a matchbox and a few inspirational items to local artists and asking them to create a matchbox inspired art piece. We had over 50 local artists commit to creating a piece. These pieces were then auctioned at the Small Resources = Big Possibilities Matchbox Gala and Art Auction event on March 17, 2012. This powerful project brings together community, artists and art therapists toward the common goal of making a positive difference in the lives of Cambodian girls who have been victims of the sex trafficking industry.
